H.B.M. Consulate-General,

SHANGHAI,

22nd November, 1924.

In confirmation of my telegram No. 159 of yesterday's date, I have the honour to report that Sun Yat-sen, accompanied by Li Lish Chun, left this morning on the "Shanghai Maru" for Nagasaki whence they intend to proceed by train through Corea to Mukden - They were seen off at the jetty by 8. K. Chen and a representative of Chang Yun Ming se wall on a Vice-Consul and other officials from the Japanese Consulate, but otherwise their departure attracted no attention what- ever. 8. K. Chan who is apparently recog- nised by the Paking cabinet, but by nobody alne, an Commissioner for Foreign Affairs, had previously received a talegram from the Wai Chiao Fu ordering him to make all arrangements for Sun Yat-sen's journey. It is interesting to note that Sun Yat-sen's visit to Shanghai has fallen extremely flat. There was a certain amount of interest taken in his arrival, but the Cantonese community in Shanghai ignored him
